The Emergency Management Exemplary Service Award is a prestigious recognition for exceptional service and achievement for work being done across Canada to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies and disasters. Awarded by Public Safety Canada and with partnership between provincial, territorial and federal governments, it recognizes recipients who have achieved excellence in their respective fields. Across Canada, there are many deserving individuals and groups working on emergency management through community-based volunteers, employees in all levels of government in emergency management organizations, and in Indigenous communities.
Awards are granted in five categories:
- Resilient Communities;
- Search and Rescue Volunteers;
- Search and Rescue Employees;
- Youth; and
- Outstanding Contribution to Emergency Management
Due to the pandemic, there was a delay in recognizing the recipients of the Emergency Management Exemplary Service Award in the Search and Rescue categories. On Friday, January 14, 2022, Search And Rescue Saskatchewan Association of Volunteers (SARSAV) honoured some of Canada’s most selfless professionals.
We would like to recognize and congratulate the 2019 recipients in the Search and Rescue categories and thank Bobbi Buchanan and Dr. Scott Wright for moderating the ceremony held on the SARscene 2021 platform this past week.
