BILL C-310: An Act to amend the Income Tax Act (volunteer firefighting and search and rescue volunteer tax credit).

This enactment amends subsection of the Income Tax Act in order to increase the amount of the tax credits for volunteer firefighting and search and rescue volunteer services from $3,000 to $10,000.

Ground Search and Rescue volunteers across Canada continue to believe that an increase in the volunteer tax credit would continue to help offset some of the financial challenges that they are faced with (including the cost of travel to their local SAR base in response to a call-out, or help cover expenses for new equipment like boots and other necessary gear).

Many GSAR members pay out of pocket to assist others within their own communities. We proudly stand by our volunteers and support this initiative alongside the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs and Civil Air Search and Rescue Association.

Now’s the time for the final push in favour of increasing the volunteer firefighter and search and rescue tax credit prior to the deadline on December 10, 2023, at 9:18 a.m. (EDT)
