SARVAC is pleased to announce that President Janelle Coultes has been appointed Co-Chair of the Ground Search and Rescue Council of Canada (GSARCC).
The GSAR Council of Canada brings together provincial and territorial search and rescue authorities, along with national organizations that support the operational and policy development of ground search and rescue services across the country. Through collaboration and shared leadership, the Council plays a key role in strengthening interoperability between agencies, enhancing emergency response coordination, and advancing volunteer-driven search and rescue across Canada.
As Co-Chair, Janelle will help guide national discussions and initiatives that support the continued growth and effectiveness of Canada’s ground search and rescue community.
Reflecting on her appointment, Janelle shared:
“It is an honour to step into this role, and I would like to thank Sébastien Marcoux from Parks Canada for his time as Co-Chair. The GSAR Council of Canada is integral in supporting interoperability between agencies in emergency response, and I look forward to strengthening relationships built on collaboration, volunteer commitment, and shared search and rescue experience.”
Janelle’s appointment reflects SARVAC’s ongoing commitment to fostering collaboration, sharing expertise, and supporting volunteer search and rescue organizations from coast to coast to coast.
Please join us in congratulating Janelle on this appointment and in wishing her continued success as she helps advance the search and rescue community across Canada.
