Welcome to the team Rick Power, our new National Prevention Coordinator at the Search and Rescue Volunteer Association of Canada!
Meet Rick: Hailing from the picturesque landscapes of Pouch Cove, Newfoundland, Rick’s roots run deep in the natural beauty of Canada. His passion for the outdoors blossomed early, fueled by a love for hiking, camping, climbing, and biking. Rick’s journey led him across Canada and the U.S., but Newfoundland has always remained his true home. Rick lives in Clarenville with his fiancée, Steph, and their eight cherished pets.
A Message from Rick: “Hello Team, I’m incredibly excited to join AdventureSmart and be part of this dynamic team. With nearly 5 years of experience in Ground Search and Rescue with Rovers SAR, I’ve been deeply involved in outdoor safety. I look forward to collaborating with all of you, learning from your expertise, and contributing to our mission.”
Role & Responsibilities: As our National Prevention Coordinator, Rick will spearhead SARVAC’s involvement in search and rescue (SAR) prevention programming, particularly focusing on enhancing the AdventureSmart program. His duties include coordinating and leading AdventureSmart Coordinators, overseeing day-to-day prevention activities, fostering partnerships with external stakeholders, and continually evaluating program effectiveness. Rick’s extensive background in the entertainment industry and IT, coupled with his dedication to outdoor safety as an AdventureSmart presenter, makes him the perfect fit for this role.
Looking Ahead: Rick’s appointment signifies SARVAC’s unwavering commitment to promoting outdoor safety and adventure throughout Canada. With his leadership, we aim to empower individuals to explore the great outdoors responsibly, while reducing the need for search and rescue deployments..
